Comparing the theory of creation to that of evolution has been a common debate in the cotemporary era. This is due to the curiosity behind man’s true originality. This paper provides an insight into the two theories as it studies the theory in evolution and that of creation
It is common to ask about human’s existence, in finding the solution to this, information is provided a theory. The theory of evolution is the only explanation to this question. This theory was introduced by Charles Darwin in the year 1859, since then it has not been supported by any scientific basis (Braun, 2005).
For the theory of evolution that was propagated by Darwin, it has gained much awareness yet it does not have an even acceptance. This is similar to the theory of creation. Many individuals are content with the theory of creation being adequate for existence (Braun, 2005). This explains why there is still no definite explanation for the existence of man.
Evolution began after Charles Darwin developed an interest in the variations of the appearance of animals (Braun, 2005). It was his guess that with these variations, the animals would develop changes and look different. This is explained as the variations in the individual from the other, in color or size but similar organism. When an organism changes its appearance through a number of small changes, it is said to undergo microevolution.
Borrowing the idea of Charles on evolution, life that is considered as simple evolves into differential things. For instance, the evolution of complex organisms from simple life forms. When the process of microevolution is carried out for a long time the organism changes to another life form. This process is called macroevolution of organisms (Scott, 2004). When looking at the theory of evolution, the major aspects are abiogenesis and macroevolution is involved.
This information is widely promoted by professors and scientists that have a relation to evolutionary matters. They come from the field of paleontology. These individuals play a role in determining the nature of fossils (Montagu & Asimov, 1984). This is done by estimating its age, the origin, and thereafter plan on its evolutionary path. Geologists also contribute towards this great controversy together with the sector of biology.
According to the common notion on the evolutionary theory, it is pagan and lacks a sense of belief. This is according to the view from a religious point of view. The argument is that human came from two descendants in the holy books. This means that the theory is contrast to evolution that claims man came from other life forms specifically the monkey family (Scott, 2004). Religious critics claim that the idea is quite intimidating to many faiths.
The idea of the theory of evolution by Charles came to remove the feeling that only divinity answers human existence. These two theories are the most controversial as they tend to contradict their own principles. The creation theory strictly claims that man had his originality by way of creation by a Supernatural Being (Scott, 2004). The humans were first created in the Garden of Eden; Adam and Eve were the first humans to be created. They later on gave birth to subsequent generations. The theory suggests that all mankind are from the creation of Adam and Eve. Religious denominations are quite many but the main ones are in line with this theory. They all claim human existence to come from a Supreme Being.
There has been a series of meanings for the word creationist over the years. For this study, the word is taken to mean an individual who believes the Bible to be true. On the other hand, those individuals who are responsible for syntheses between evolution and religion are called theistic evolutionists.
The main area in scientific creationism is contrary to the area of actual science. They do not involve themselves in proving theories; this is because they tend to believe that scientific disagreements are enough evidence that the notion is wrong. Another thing about these individuals is that they are keen to rely on misinterpreted and misapplied dogma from religion (Scott, 2004). Their observations are not real but mere assumptions. The evolutionists declare their belief as being a religion. They look at it similar to theory in creation.
The creationists usually relate disproof of an idea in evolution as supportive to creationism. The idea in creation is one that can be called jealous; it does not allow for the opportunity of challenges. It is popularly considered as a means for the creationists to behave in the desired manner.
Creationists accuse the theory in evolution of introducing social vices and evils. These vices and evils include birth control, atheism and pornography. The idea in atheism and evolution are linked in a way to one another. Having no basis in religious ideologies, the theory of evolution fails to advocate a common belief in Supreme Dominance (Montagu & Asimov, 1984). The organisms are thought to have experienced many changes through time to reach their current state.
Unlike evolution, the theory of creation does not have a time factor. The idea found in evolutionary argument is that the process does not continue after a certain stage in evolution. It claims that organisms are no longer undergoing evolution thus the process stopped in the past. Logically this limitation is critical as it questions the practicality of the idea; the reason for the stop of evolution is not given.
The theory of creation uses religious accounts for the basis of argument. For instance, the Bible is used by Christians to give proof of their augments (Montagu & Asimov, 1984). The theory claims that the universe and all that is in it was created by God in a period of a few days. The Christians, for instance, clam that on the first day the physical universe was created. These included the space, time stars and planets. The second day the earth’s atmosphere was changed from opaque to translucent. The water cycle was created on the third day. The next day God created an establishment for the oceans and continents. The continents were given plants to grow on. The atmosphere was then transformed to transparent. The sun, stars and moon could easily be seen.
These series of activities are the basis for the theory where man was created as the last object in the universe. The theory therefore does not condone any ideas in evolution but has no scientific challenges that could disprove it. Therefore, the creationists view is considered to be scientifically accurate (Montagu & Asimov, 1984). The idea in creation theory is more credible and offers a greater promise than evolution. Humans are a product of God’s creation and not evolution. According to religious accounts from the Bible and Koran, it is clearly stated that God created man. Creation is the basis of religion as it shows the identity of the person. A Christian is bound to dedicate their lives to upholding traditions as their religion.
Comparing the two ideologies, the idea of creationism is more practical. This is because the process of evolution lacks its originality and is not applicable in this era. The process does not take place any more after the introduction of Homo erectus. On the other hand, creation story is a popular reference in many religious setups.
